The coin shown is a fifty dollar gold coin,
dated 1958 (Ethiopian Era) and 1966 AD. On
the obverse is a portrait of King Haile
Selassie. The reverse has the crowned lion of
Judah with Amharic script in exergue. The
date is along the base and is written in a
format particular to Ethiopia, with an extra
digit denoting magnitude. The Gregorian date
is listed below it. This coin was issued on the
75th Anniversary of Haile Selassie's birth,
and fiftieth Jubilee of his reign.
