... It give Us great pleasure to open the Agricultural, Industrial, and Commercial Exhibition of Ethiopia. Standing here in the outskirsts of the City of Addis Ababa, We can look out across the fields and forests of Ethiopia and We are deeply conscious of God's great gifts to Our beloved country, at the same time We may turn Our eyes back into the City where we are aware of the rapid growths of the commerce and the industry of Our people.
But even as We consider the numerous and varied activities of Our people in the countryside and in the cities, We are concious of the ever increasing influence of those activities upon the life of all peoples throughout the world and in turn of the influence of outside activities upon the life of Ethiopia.
It is Our hope that this Exhibition will not only reveal the progress that has been made in the agriculture, commerce adn the industry of Our people, but will contribute to the further explanation and development of the economic life of the entire nation.
It is the duty of all to apply the skill of their minds to the greater and greater use of God's great blessings of farms and field and, forest and to make greater and greater use of the factories, the trading centres and the roads and communications which are also evidence of Ethiopia's prosperity, of Ethiopia's strength.
