H.I.H Prince Sahle Selassie Haile Selassie

Prince Sahle Selassie (February 27, 1932 - April 24, 1962) was the youngest child of Emperor Haile
Selassie and Empress Menen Asfaw of Ethiopia. His full title was "His Imperial Highness, Prince
Sahle Selassie Haile Selassie".

Born after his parents had been crowned Emperor and Empress of Ethiopia, he was the only one of
the Emperor's children to have been born with the title of Prince. Since his older brothers, Prince
Asfa Wossen and Prince Makonnen, had both been born before the 1930 coronation, Prince Sahle
Selassie was also the first legitimate child born to a reigning Emperor since the birth of Dejazmach
Alemayehu Tewodros, son of Emperor Tewodros II.

Prince Sahle Selassie was married to Princess Mahisente Habte Mariam, the daughter of Dejazmach
Habte Mariam Gabre-Igziabiher, the heir to the old Oromo kingdom of Leqa Naqamte in Welega
Province, and later served as governor of Welega province. They had a son, Prince Ermias Sahle
Selassie, who currently is the President of the Crown Council of Ethiopia. The Prince was a man of
an artistic bent, who is said to have made a movie which was banned from publication by the
Imperial Government censor despite the fact the Prince was a member of the Imperial family. It was
believed that the movie indirectly questioned the fast pace of development, and the strains it
caused on rural society, and was thus unflattering to the policies of the Imperial government.

Prince Sahle Selassie died in 1962, months after the death of his mother Empress Menen Asfaw. He
was survived by his wife and his son Prince Ermias, and was buried in the crypt of Holy Trinity
Cathedral in Addis Ababa.

Abeba Aregai

In salutary commemorations of my African family,

I present to you
Abeba Aregai of Ethiopia.

In 1936 during the fascist invasion of Ethiopia, it was decided by the
clergy and political leaders that, The Emperor, Qedamawee Hayile
Selase should journey to the headquarters of the League of Nations
and deliver a personal address to the international community;
concerning the atrocities and injustices which Ethiopia was
experiencing under Italy's illegal occupation of Ethiopia. His Majesty
then commissioned the brave and knowlegable Abeba Aregai as
governor in His absence.

Abeba Aregai undertook the job with a relentless pursuit of expelling
the enemy. He launched several successful attacks and commandeered
guerrilla maneuvers which wreaked havoc amongst the invaders; also
keeping the enemies confined to the capital city- Addis Abeba. Abeba
Aregai is a true Ethiopian Patriot and outstanding military strategist
whose fight to preserve the independence of Ethiopia and the freedom
of her peoples will be forever cherished.

General Amane Michale Andom
The following is a write up by Orion Netsante.
From what I recall about General Amane Michale Andom. Orion Nètsanèt is absolutely correct and your observation is based on
knowledge and accurate Ethipoan family history.

1) General Amane Michael Andom was purely an Ethiopian by blood, by ideology and by background. His father was born in the
Italian created and named “Eritrea” and his mother was from Tigrai.

2) Derg did NOT “give” the Lt. General Aman M. Andom “nominal power” to “derail Eritrea’s aspiration”. He was the most qualified
Ethiopian to take the position of leadership within their clique.

3) The Emperor Haile Selassie did NOT “quickly remove his military commander role and appoint him as a senator after his “friend
General Numiery of Sudan took over”. The Lt General Aman Andom was given strict orders by the Emperor Haile Selassie to not
cross into Somalia and he defied his orders in 1964. He was then removed from his military commanding roles and sent to the
United States until 1965. He returned and was placed as a senator within Ethiopia. His “friend General Jafar Numiery” did not take
control of Sudan until 1969 – that is 5 years after the Emperor Haile Selassie removed him from his position and not this
outrageous narration made to mislead the mass into believing the Emperor was somehow worried when there was no connection.

Lt. General Aman Andom was a proud Ethiopian that believed in the core principles of Ethiopianism.

His father was Ato Wolde-Mikael Andom from Hamassien (in today's Eritrea) and his mother was W/ro Gidey Reda from Tigray,
Ethiopia. His father was educated in the Lutheran school systems but fled to British controlled Sudan where he was an interpreter
and an officer where he held different positions. W/ro Gidey Reda was a teacher who was also educated in the Lutheran School
system. She fled with her husband to the Sudan where they gave birth to 6 children.

Lt. General Aman Andom was born on July 21, 1924 in Khartoum, Sudan.

Ato Wolde-Mikael Andom of Hamassien named his 4 sons the following names:

* Amanuel Mikael Andom

* Meles Mikael Andom

* Yohannes Mikael Andom

* Aman Mikael Andom

Ato Mikael Andom of Hamassien named his 2 daughters the following names:

* Tsion Mikael Andom

* Ethiopia-Hagerey Mikael Andom

The name of his daughter “Ethiopia-Hagerey” is testimony about the sense of “Ethiopiawinet” in the Andom household.

Lt. General Aman Andom served in the Ethiopian Army and was sent to Korea under the rank of Lieutenant General in Command of
the Third Division. In 1964, Somalia attacked Ethiopia in which he victoriously put an end to their aggression and was dubbed the
"Desert Lion".

In the 1974 turmoil in Ethiopia, Lt. General Aman Andom went to Asmara and spoke at the “Nigist Saba” (Queen of Sheba) Stadium
where 80,000 people were there to listen to his speech about “Ethiopia First”, peace and unity in Amharic, Tigrinya and Arabic.

Here is a snippet of his speech:

“ኤርትራ የኢትዮጵያ መሰረት እንደሆነች የኢትዮጵያ ታሪክ ምስክር ነው። ኤርትራ ኢትዮጵያን እናቴ ብላ ያቀፈችው የኢትዮጵያ የበኵር ልጅ በመሆኗ ነው።

Although his actions in playing a role in the removal of Ethiopia's last rightful ruler was seen as unforgivable by some, Lt. General
Aman Andom was a proud Ethiopian that believed in Ethiopia and it's monarchy. The mess brought on by the anti-Ethiopian force
of Mengistu Haile-Mariam will always be remembered. With the death/murder of Aman Andom, this helped secure more
supporters from the province of Eritrea to assist the newly formed EPLF and to a lesser degree the ELF.

Lt. General Aman Andom was 16 years old when he joined his father and the Ethiopian Patriots in Sudan where they crossed into
Ethiopia (1941) with the forces of Emperor Haile Selassie to liberate it from the 5 year Italian occupation.

Lt. General Aman Andom had 1 son that he named “Mikael” after his father. He also had 3 daughters, one of which he named
“Ethiopia” - after the country he so loved.

Grandfather Damtew Ketema was killed fighting the Italians in 1896. His son Ras Desta Damtew was executed by Itlian fascists in

generations died a violent death doing their job protecting Ethiopia. Thank you. We Ethiopians paid a heavy price for our freedom.
We are not going to squander this freedom. For those irresponsible chat eaters. alcoholic bunch and Shisha smokers, your freedom

Falashas
The Falashas (Beta Israel) Ethiopian Jews are descendants of David and Bathsheba.  This is important to consider, because
Bathsheba is the mother of King Solomon, the fact of her being Ethiopian is not known to many.  Also, King David's mother, Grand
Mother and also his great grand mother who is the biblical Ruth.  Ruth was an Ethiopian woman living in Moab.  In a similar way,
like Yotor Ab (Jethro) was the priest of Midian, but acknowledged to be Ethiopian, is confirmed by the fact of Moses' wife being
Ethiopian, and she is the daughter of Yotor Ab.

Imhotep
" It's Imhotep ", says Sir William Osler, " who was
the real father of medicine. The first figure of a
doctor to clearly stand out from the mist of

Imhotep has diagnosed and treated more than
200 diseases, 15 abdominal diseases, 11 bladder,
10 rectum, 29 eyes and 18 skin, hair, and 18 skin,

Imhotep extract medicine from plants and knew
the position and function of vital organs and the
circulation of the blood system. The Encyclopedia
Britannica says: " The evidence provided by
Egyptian and Greek texts supports the idea that
the's reputation was highly respected at the
beginning... His prestige grew with time and
temples in Greek times were the teaching centres
medical. "

James Henry Breasted says about Imhotep:

" In church wisdom, in magic, in the words of wise
proverbs; in medicine and architecture; this
remarkable figure of of's reign has left a
reputation so remarkable that his name was never
forgotten. He was the protective spirit of the later
scribes to whom they regularly paid a libation of
the water pot from their writing outfit before
starting their work. People sang his proverbs
centuries later, and 2500 years after his death, he
had become a god of medicine in whom the
Greeks, who call him Imouthes, recognized their
own Asklepios. A temple was built to him near the
Serapeum in Memphis, and at present, each

wise apothétisé, the proverb, doctor and architect

Saint Fikerte Kiristos

Besme Ab, we Weld, we Menfes Qidus, Ahadu Amlak. Amen.
(In the Name of the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit. One God. Amen)

Saint Fikerte Kiristos

Saint Fikerte Kiristos (Ema Muz) was born in the period of Atse Sertse Dingil in the diocese of Gondar, the awraja (province) of the
Debre Tabor in a place called Dera Fogera. Her father was called Laba and her mother was called Wongiela. They were generous
Christians who committed themselves to praying and fasting. Fikerte Kiristos grew up by orderly learning the holy books. She
became strong in virtue and faith. She stayed by helping the destitute. During the reign of Atse Susenyos , there was a change of
religion by government decree. At that time many Ethiopians, followers of the Tewahedo religion received suffering and
persecution. History reveals that earlier Atse Susenyos was zealous of the Tewahedo religion, but the Catholics entered the palace
and preached first to the prince and the princess. Through them they awakened the king. Finally Atse Susenyos broke his vow and
stood against the Tewahedo religion. Many scholars of the church were imprisoned and killed because of their disapproval of the
king’s denial.

Like other religious fathers and mothers, Saint Fikerte Kiristos received trouble and suffering at being imprisoned. Her Gedle (Her
book of Martyrdom) says that she was taken off miraculously from the prison. Then after, by the will of God, she concluded her
apostolic warfare and died on Yekatit 29 (March 8).

Miraculously a church was constructed within a day on Tahisas 14 (December 23) with materials like wood of Sensel tree and on
the third day i.e. on Tahisas 16 (December 25) the church was constructed by the name of Kidane Meheret (Covenant of Mercy).

One of the amazing things in the Monastery is the building of the Church. Since the reign of Atse Fassil in the beginning of the 17th
century until now, this church antiquity remains without maintenance, and still provides efficient service.

Monasteries constructed by the name of the righteous Fikerte Kiristos:

1. Ema Muz Monastery in North Wollo diocese in a place called Giramekiet

2. In North Wollo diocese a monastery called Raya Zobel Rama Kidane Meheret

These were constructed for her will by the will of God. By a covenant given by the omnipotent God, many sterile women are giving
birth when carrying her martyrdom book and making a vow to God there.

May the help of the righteous lady be upon us. Amen!

Medusa
MEDUSA:Goddess Phomolo

When You hear Medusa what comes to your mind as a representation of their indoctrination into our culture?

Medusa’s “hair of snakes” were really dreadlocks.

Dread by Caucus Definition - anticipate with great apprehension, to fear or to dread, regard with great awe or reverence.

She was the Afrikan serpent-goddess representing Female Wisdom and was called “the mother of all gods, whom she bore before
childbirth existed.”

In typical treatment of maligning Alkebulan tradition, European “classic myth” made Medusa into a monster; the terrible Gorgon
whose look turned men to stone. The Gorgons were a trinity whose names were Medusa, Stheino, and Euryale or Wisdom,
Strength, and Universality.

European plagiarist writers pretended they were monsters, but these are not the names of monsters. Medusa was the Destroyer
aspect of the Triple Goddess called Neith in Egypt and Athena in Greece. Medusa’s name is derived from Egyptian Maat (Truth),
which also gives us the words medicine, mathematics, and Sanskrit medha (female wisdom).

The Greeks and Romans were both very good at exploring, conquering, and adapting the local religions of conquered peoples to
suit their needs. It’s thought that when the Greeks came to Africa, they encountered a people who had a goddess depicted with
dreadlocks.

The original, real life Medusa, supposedly had dreads and the origin of dreads through ancient discoveries existed before the
fictional Medusa character was recreated.

She was the snake Goddess which is how Europeans formed their version of a monster with hair of snakes, with a face that would
turn any man to stone because of fear, which developed from the Gorgon mask she carried with her.

Medusa has historically been seen as the archetype of the nasty mother, however she is far more complex.

She symbolizes the following:

  • Sovereign female wisdom.
  • The female mysteries.
  • All the forces of the primordial Great Goddess: The Cycles of Time as past, present and future.
  • The Cycles of Nature as life, death and rebirth.
  • She is universal Creativity and Destruction in eternal Transformation.
  • She is the Guardian of the Thresholds and the Mediatrix between the Realms of heaven, earth and the underworld.
  • She is Mistress of the Beasts. Latent and Active energy.
  • Connection to the earth.
  • The union of heaven and earth.
  • She destroys in order to recreate balance.
  • She purifies.

Saint Samuel of Waldebba
In the Name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. One God. Amen.

St. Samuel of Waldebba

Lions, known in Ethiopia's official language, Amharic, as 'Anbessa' (Singular) and 'Anbessoch' (Plural) have always held a uniquely
important place in Ethiopian art and culture. They were the symbol of the Ethiopian state and was also a frequent motif in
manuscripts. Lions was also known to be associated with the righteous. St. Samuel of Waldebba was known for taming lions.

St. Samuel of Waldebba (Samu'el za-hagara waldibba) was a 15th-century Ethiopian monk and ascetic of the Ethiopian Orthodox
Church.

He was born of Stephen, and Amata Mariam around 1295, Ethiopian Calendar. At his early age, his parent took him to the country
of Aksum and taught him the Holy Scriptures. When his father and mother died, he went to Dabra Bankol to Abba Madhanina Egzi’
e, and he put on the garb of the monastic life, and fought the fight with fasting and prayer. He ate nothing except withered and
decayed herbs, and his drink was water, and he became the servant of the monks, in the grinding of corn, and the drawing of water.

When his family came to visit him repeatedly, he departed to another place and devoted himself to rigorous monastic life. Thence
he departed to the desert, and he ate no food whatsoever for forty days and forty nights. There, the lions, and the leopards, and all
kinds of terrifying wild beasts came and bowed down before him, and licked the dust at his feet.

One day as he was going along the road, he arrived at a valley which was full of water. At this time he had with him a book and
some fire. After making a prayer, he entered and crossed the water by the power of God although the water engulfed him and
dragged him down and found the fire not extinguished, and the book uninjured.

Satan used to try him with phantoms of every kind of wild beast, but he was not frightened because his mind was bound up with
confidence in his God. As Abba Samuel was praying our Lord Jesus Christ came to him, and sealed his whole body and each limb
thereof with His spittle, and he became filled with power. From that day he bound his feet with fetters, and wore sackcloth. And he
thrust all his limbs into water, and he recited the Psalms of David five times each day, and he scourged his back frequently with
strips. The lions used to peer into his cave like sheep, and of some he used to stroke their bodies, and of others he used to dress
their wounds; and he pluck out the thorns from their paws.

During his lifetime, many disciples attached themselves to him, and of these the first was Abba Zarufael. One day Abba Samuel met
Abba Gabra Maskal, of Dabra Laggaso and they passed the day in describing the great works of God. At the time for supper, when
they were making their prayers, a table came down to them from heaven, and they ate and gave thanks to God.

Then one day he met a certain monk from the desert, and when they began to talk about the Mysteries which God had made for
them, Abuna Samuel said, “Behold, for twelve years I have been standing in the heights and censing the throne of God with the
Four and Twenty Priests of Heaven.” When he went in to consecrating the Offerings, there came down to him bread and a chalice
from heaven; and when he was reading the Praises of our Lady Maryam, he was lifted up off the ground to the height of a cubit, and
our Holy Lady, the Virgin Maryam, came and gave him a precious stone which shot out light from it, and some pure incense.

When the time of his departure drew nigh Michael the Archangel came unto him, and he caught him up on his wings and showed
him all the delights of the heavenly Jerusalem. And he brought him before the throne of God, and then Abba Samuel received from
him the promise concerning the man who should invoke his name or celebrate his commemoration. When he returned to his bed
he told his disciples everything, which he had seen, and then he died in peace.
Salutation to Abba Samuel!

Waldebba monastery is one of the oldest and famous Ethiopian monasteries where the monks abstain entirely from eating food for
ascetic life except “Rolled Quarf” which is made up of immature banana mixed with the root of a certain tree. According to the
tradition of the monastery, Waldebba monastery is believed to have been established around five centuries earlier. Later on Abba
Samuel of Waldebba expanded and formed a monastic order and drew up a set of rules in the 14th century.

May the intersession of Abba Samuel be with us and glory be to God!
