Executing high-priority 'Preventive Protocols' can prevent exposure to dis-eases and is an important phase in reducing/preventing the spread of communicable/infectious diseases. Quarantine protocols/measures are used on groups/communities to contain and prevent spread of infectious disease outside of group/community. When an individual determines they may have come in contact with someone with the infectious disease, but not confirmed to have contracted the disease, then it is highly recommended that they "self-quarantine".
Keep your body 'Alkaline'. A body that is alkaline minimizes the chance of contracting a communicable/infectious disease. Following are some tips for preventing contracting / spreading infectious disease:
- Washing hands, covering coughs, and avoiding
contacts (i.e., Social Distancing) with others after contracting communicable dis-ease (e.g., flu, common cold, etc.) will reduce the transmission.
- Respirators assist against air-borne transmissions
- Wearing appropriate respiratory protection
when necessary is a vital line of defense. In health care, the N95 filtering face-piece respirator is the most commonly used. (Source: Pg 2, http: //www.cdc.gov/NIOSH/docs/2013- 138/pdfs/2013-138.pdf
- Protective Clothing (i.e., long sleeves, long pants,
etc.,)
- Skin Exposures (cover extremities: head, hands,
feet)
- Eye Protection (goggles, snorkeling mask, etc.,)
- Hearing Protection (e.g., ear covers, earphones,
earplugs, etc.,)
The objective is to minimize contact with foreign objects and people before they have been screened/cleansed. Screening/Cleansing consists of: 1. Set-up of 'pre-entry' area enclosed with plastic (recommended) or large pieces of materials 2. Stepping in container (e.g., large bucket, beer-barrel, etc.) before and after entering quarantined locations to clean your shoes/boots. 3. When exiting sterile environment, follow protocol for covering body, head-to-toe with recommended clothing/accessories.

Once a communicable/infectious disease is contracted, it is important to isolate the patient and take special attention executing high-priority 'Preventive Protocols'. This is extremely important when attending to the needs of the patient, to reduce/eliminate any additional exposure and spread of the disease to the caretaker(s) and to prevent recurring contraction by the patient due to continued exposure.

Developing cures is a lengthy and sometimes an unpredictable process with insufficient time to observe long-term side-effects; however in urgent times, it may be necessary to administer therapeutics (medicines) / vaccines that have been expedited through an abbreviated certification process to bring disease under control and eventual eradication of the disease.
