'Wholistic' Health Tips
Dis-ease Prevention, Maintenance, and Cure
Prevent
Executing high-priority 'Preventive Protocols' can
prevent exposure to dis-eases and is an important
phase in reducing/preventing the spread of
communicable/infectious dis-eases.  Keep your body
'Alkaline'.
Maintain
Once a communicable/infectious dis-sease is
contracted, it is important to isololate/quarantine the
patient and take special attention executing
high-priority 'Preventive Protocols' when attending to
the needs of the patient, to reduce/eliminate any
additional exposure to the dis-ease.
Cure
Developing cures is a lengthy and sometimes an
unpredictable process with insufficient time to observe
long-term side-effects; however in urgent times, it may
be necessary to administer 'untested/uncertified'
medicines to bring under control and eventually
eradicate the dis-ease(s) being treated.
Our Philosophy on Health...
Prevention is 100% better than the cure!
Health starts with Knowledge of Self!
'Diet' and 'Exercise' versus 'Nutrition' and 'Fitness'.  These sets of
terms are used interchangeably and are respectively synonymous;
however, they tend to be viewed as soley related to our physical
attributes, but in many cases, whether intentionally or
inadvertently, omitted from our mental and spiritual attributes.  It
must be noted that it is critical to understand that equity in feeding
and developing each of our attributes leads to optimum
performance.  What we feed our mind, body, and soul will
determine our contribution as a human being.
Start with pre-natal care.  What does this mean?  It means that the
health of the parents is critical to the health of the fetus.  As parents
or potential parents, we must higherstand that what we ingest
physically, mentally, and spiritually, feeds our offspring.

Human blood pH should be slightly alkaline ( 7.35 - 7.45 ).  Below or above
this range means symptoms and disease.  A pH of 7.0 is neutral.  A pH
below 7.0 is acidic.  A pH above 7.0 is alkaline.

An acidic pH can occur from, an acid forming diet, emotional stress, toxic
overload, and/or immune reactions or any process that deprives the cells
of oxygen and other nutrients.  The body will try to compensate for acidic
pH by using alkaline minerals.  If the diet does not contain enough
minerals to compensate, a build up of acids in the cells will occur.

An acidic balance will:  decrease the body's ability to absorb minerals and
other nutrients, decrease the energy production in the cells, decrease it's
ability to repair damaged cells, decrease it's ability to detoxify heavy
metals, make tumor cells thrive, and make it more susceptible to fatigue
and illness.  A blood pH of 6.9, which is only slightly acidic, can induce
coma and death.

The reason acidosis is more common in our society is mostly due to the
typical American diet, which is far too high in acid producing animal
products like meat, eggs and dairy, and far too low in alkaline producing
foods like fresh vegetables.  Additionally, we eat acid producing processed
foods like white flour and sugar and drink acid producing beverages like
coffee and soft drinks.  We use too many drugs, which are acid forming;
and we use artificial chemical sweetners like NutraSweet, Spoonful, Sweet
'N Low, Equal, or Aspartame, which are poison and extremely acid
forming.  One of the best things we can do to correct an overly acid body is
to clean up the diet and lifestyle.

To maintain health, the diet should consist of 60% alkaline forming foods
and 40% acid forming foods.  To restore healthy balance, an interim diet
should consist of 80% alkaline forming foods and 20% acid forming foods.

Generally, alkaline forming foods include: most fruits, green vegetables,
peas, beans, lentils, spices, herbs and seasonings, and seeds and nuts.

Generally, acid forming foods include: meat, fish, poultry, eggs, grains, and
legumes.

"... Dr. Charlotte Gerson says, "cancer cannot live in an alkaline body," and
one of the primary ways the body battles cancer and other diseases is by
bringing the body into an alkaline state which makes it an inhospitable
environment for cancer."  Source (article): Organic, Raw, Unfiltered Apple

homeostasis
(hō'mē-ō-stā'sĭs)
The tendency of an organism or
cell to regulate its internal
conditions, such as the chemical
composition of its body fluids,
so as to maintain health and
functioning, regardless of
outside conditions. The
organism or cell maintains
homeostasis by monitoring its
internal conditions and
responding appropriately when
these conditions deviate from
their optimal state. The
maintenance of a steady body
temperature in warm-blooded
animals is an example of
homeostasis. In human beings,
the homeostatic regulation of
body temperature involves such
mechanisms as sweating when
the internal temperature
becomes excessive and
shivering to produce heat, as
well as the generation of heat
through metabolic processes
when the internal temperature
falls too low.

Whenever the body is overloaded (biochemically imbalanced), it tries to
get rid of the toxic (imbalanced) state.  It uses urine and bowel movements
to keep it free of toxics.  Further, when these two fail, it uses the skin
(bumps, acne, blackheads, herpes, rashes, measles, smallpox, etc.) to rid
itself of toxins.  If this fails, the body uses the lungs and nasal cavities to
get rid of toxins (sinuses, running nose, bronchitis, catarrh).  In addition,
the body uses a warning signal such as a headache to notify you of a toxic
state.  In African wholistic medicine, the cause of the toxic state would be
treated through herbs and cleansing diet.  European medicine treats the
symptoms with aspirin, cold suppressants, antihistamines, cough syrups,
and skin creams.  Consequently, the body remains toxic and fertile for
another dis-ease condition.

Ital
The primary goal of adhering to
an Ital diet is to increase Livity,
or the life energy that Rastafari
generally believe lives within all
human beings, as conferred

Ital normally refers to food in it's natural form.  This means that it is not
grown with chemical fertilizers or pesticides and has little to no
processing.   Ital in most cases, refers to food that does not have any sugar
or processed salt.  Sea salt for many is acceptable, but there are some that
are strict adherents and only each raw vegetables that have not been
cooked , contain artificial additives, or added ingredients.

Organic
Fact: Organic Food May Be Better for Your Physique
Organic foods contain more antioxidants, which are not only
disease-protective, ...
In addition, research shows that pesticide residues from conventionally
grown foods may be a factor in rising obesity rates.  Rats exposed to
pesticides gain considerably more weight, and further research has linked
pesticide exposure to obesity in children.

Fact: Organic Foods Provide More Nutrients
... organically grown foods contain more minerals and antioxidants, which
are considered "good" fats, and far fewer nitrates, which have been linked
to such health problems as diabetes and Alzheimer's.

Fact: Organic Food Tastes Better
... organic food buyers cite better taste as a major reason for purchasing
organic fruits and vegetables, and there's research to confirm the taste
advantage.

Fact: Organic Benefits Go Beyond Nutrition
By law, organically produced foods cannot be given antibiotics.  That is
key, because these substances contaminate ground and water systems,
triggering an unhealthy domino effect that can impact you if you become ill
or injured.  According to the Centers of Disease Control and Prevention and
the World Health Organization the use of antibiotics in animal agriculture
has contributed to the rise in drug-resistant germs.

Naturopathic
Healthcare
Part science, part art, it uses
natural therapies to diagnose,
treat and prevent disease, but it
also includes holistic,
individualized approach to
wellness.
Naturopathy is not for those who want a "magic bullet."  Naturopathic
physicians (NDs),  should be licensed with speciailized training and
state-mandated educational credentials.  NDs, rather than relieving
symptoms through invasive procedures or prescription drugs, seek to
identify and correct an aliment's underlying cause, which is often rooted in
lifestyle.  And they encourage individuals to take responsibility for their
own wellness.

Healthcare impacts: Including, but not limited to; physical, mental,
emotional, nutritional, genetic, environmental, and life style.

Reflexology

Massaging:  First, to get going and relieve some tension, squeeze the entire
foot -- top and bottom, using one or both hands.  This should be done with
firm finger pressure applied down the middle of the foot.

For a quick energy boost, stimulate the thyroid gland reflex point located
between and under the big and second toe.  With a firm grasp, use your
thumb to apply pressure on this point for seven seconds.  Repeat three
times.

The sinus reflexes located on the toes can be stimulated to facilitate
breathing.  Pull the tip of the toe with your fingers and rotate.  Use gentle
movements.  Now, press the toe tips and hold for ten seconds.  Do this
three times on all ten toes.

Even though we've discussed self massage, the rewards of offering
reflexology as a service to your clients can be tremendous.

Sex
Ten Best Reasons to Use a Condom
Article on "Sex After Childbirth"
About 7 percent of married people and 17.7 percent of partnered people in
their 30s and 40s say they haven't had sex in the past year, according to
the 2010 National Survey of Sexual Health and Behavior. Whether you find
that comforting or alarming, Fulbright wants to remind you of
the fringe
benefits of getting busy: Sex improves the muscle tone of the pelvic
floor, lubricates the vaginal tissues, can help prevent yeast infections,
releases stress, and eases migraines, chronic back pain and PMS-related
cramps.  Sex also has the potential to lower your risk of developing
heart disease and can boost your immune system.
